Boron Nitride:

Nano-size boron nitride is produced by BORTEK Bor Teknolojileri Ltd. Şti. supported by our Institute. It is also used in the production of engine additive oils developed by the company while the domestic need is met upon order. With the protocol signed with the company, research and application studies are carried out in order to expand the use of boron nitride.  While boron nitride coating processes are continued at BOREN Boron Coating Competence Center established at Atılım University, on the other hand, research and application studies on the use of boron nitride as solid lubricant for energy saving in additive oils are continued.

Elemental Boron:

When elemental boron is mixed with oxidants such as ammonium perchlorate (NH4ClO4) and potassium nitrate (KNO3) at certain ratios, a severe combustion can be achieved.  In addition, metal additives are widely used in rocket launchers and explosives to increase energy density. Elemental Boron products, used in metallurgical applications, air-bag igniter basic component, military pyrotechnics, solid rocket fuels energetic material, superconducting MgB2 used as the main component in the industrial size, is produced by PAVEZYUM Kimya Sanayi Tic. A.Ş. with 98.5% purity at nano size and 86-95% purities. Elemental Boron prices vary between $ 300-2,500 / kg depending on purity. Nano boron, which is produced 5 kg per week, can also be used in the production of magnesium diboride (MgB2), a new generation superconducting material.  

MgBSuperconducting Powder:

MgB2 is produced as the main component of Mag-Lev trains, MRI devices, wind turbines, superconducting magnets, power transmission systems, electric motors, and fault current cut-out units. Prices of magnesium diboride, which is mainly used on the superconducting market, are around $ 6,000 / kg. In the production of superconducting MgB2, the main component, nano size and high purity, provides up to 10 times performance increase in magnetic fields of use. Within the scope of the project carried out with the support of our institute, PAVEZYUM Kimya Sanayi Tic. A.Ş. has successfully produced the MgB 2 Superconducting Powder. Production is performed according to the order.

Cellulosic Isolation:

Since the establishment of our institute, Çağ Mühendislik and YALİZ Yapı companies have been cooperated in the production of cellulosic insulation material. Currently, both companies are producing pulp cellulosic insulation material.  

Agriculture Boron-Wood Boron:

A patent certificate has been obtained for the agricultural boron-wood boron product produced in the pilot plant established by the protocol signed between our institute and METU Chemical Engineering Department and the production right has been granted to BM Bor Teknolojileri Araştırma ve Geliştirme Şirketi. The report containing the technical information regarding the production of the product was shared with the General Directorate of Eti Mine Operations and it is produced under the trade name Etidot-67 with the facility having 8 thousand-ton capacity established within the Bandırma Boron Operations Directorate.

Zinc Borate:

A patent certificate has been obtained for the zinc borate synthesized within the scope of the project carried out in cooperation with METU Chemical Engineering Department with the pilot production at the pilot plant established in the same department, a license agreement has been signed and the production right has been granted to BM Bor Teknolojileri Araştırma ve Geliştirme Şirketi and MELOS A.Ş. In addition to meeting domestic needs, foreign sales are also made.
