Boron plays an important role in plant growth. As the absolute necessity of boron is determined nearly 82 years ago, its function in the plant structure is still not fully understood.

Boron regulates the passage of glucose in cells, cell division and growth and the metabolism of photosynthesis. Even without the required amount of boron, a plant can grow and foliate but there will be losses during fruit or seed production.
